🎄🌴Christmas Expo – Daytona Beach, FL (2019) 🌴🎄

The Christmas Expo Conference for 2019 was held in Daytona Beach, FL. There were a bunch of lighting-related classes, a vendor area and other opportunities for learning more about the lighting hobby. We had a blast!

    Jeff,
Thought I’d Check in, since I haven’t said anything in a while. I have since completed my wreath, everything works as it should, with minimal power injection. I got my laptop issues with regards to communicating to the Falcon V16 figured out, the one thing I still need to address is getting my raspberry Pi to communicate with the falcon. should I just re-configure the Raspberry Pi or? any Ideas?
I just ordered from Boscoyo studios (back in July during their sale- 500′ of the mounting strips for the nodes to do the eaves, window frames, garage doors and gutters of my house, I’m hoping that will be enough, if not, I suppose I’ll improvise somehow.
I’ve got most everything for my power supplies, fuse panels and wiring laid out, just have to measure out each run of lights and tag them for each part of my display. I think I’m going to make my own candy canes (like the coro ones) out of Formica or Plexiglas.
I’ve also acquired a small FM transmitter for the audio for my setup.
so, I’m well on my way for the season, still playing with the programming of the sequences, but that’s just gonna take some time…..
I just got back from Orlando, Fl. , wish I could have made the Expo…..
    Have a good one!

    Ben,
    That’s awesome on the wreath!
If the computer and Falcon are communicating, configuring the Pi to communicate should be fairly easy, but I don’t know exactly what you’re dealing with network-wise. All I can say is they should be on the same network (to make it easy at first). Usually, the Pi comes up using DHCP on the Ethernet connection unless you’ve changed it. However, a new version of FPP has been released requiring re-imaging so that may be the easiest.
Yeah, you can always add to it next year if you didn’t get enough this year. Keep in mind that the candy canes act like a sail in the wind so prepare for that. 🙂
Sounds like you are well on your way. Excellent!

    Jeff,
Yes Sir! The rest will be a piece of cake, running cables/ wiring/ power injection where needed.
I’ll remember the “Sail” issue when the time comes! I’ll look into the FPP update as well.
Thanks again for your “words of wisdom”
    Ben
